Early Life and Career Beginnings
Alice D’Amato was born on February 7, 2003, in Genoa, Italy, and began gymnastics at age 7 with her twin sister, Asia.
They trained at the Andrea Doria Sports Club before moving to the International Academy of Brixia in Brescia.
Junior Achievements
D’Amato made her international debut at the 2015 City of Jesolo Trophy.
She faced injury in 2016 but returned to win gold at the Mediterranean Junior Championships in 2017 and contributed to Italy’s team gold at the 2018 European Championships.

Senior Gymnastics Career
D’Amato’s senior career began to shine in 2019 when she won a bronze medal on the uneven bars at the European Championships and helped Italy win bronze at the World Championships, securing Italy’s first team medal since 1950.
In 2022, D’Amato won gold at the European Championships and silver on the uneven bars. She continued to excel in 2023, winning gold on the uneven bars at the European Championships and Cairo World Cup.
Historic Olympic Victory
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, D’Amato won gold on the balance beam, becoming Italy’s first female Olympic gymnastics champion.
She also helped Italy secure a second-place finish in the team competition, qualified for individual finals in all four events, and placed fourth in the all-around and fifth on the uneven bars.
