With the departure of Raphael Varane, signing a new defender is a priority at Old Trafford. They have identified Jarrad Branthwaite, Leny Yoro, and Matthijs de Ligt as their top targets.

In recent weeks, Matthijs de Ligt has looked the most likely to join former manager Erik ten Hag at United.

However, journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that Man United have not yet made an official offer to Bayern Munich for the Dutch defender.

Matthijs De Ligt wants to work under his former manager, as they know each other well from their time at Ajax. Matthijs De Ligt has given the green light to the transfer, and no other clubs are currently in discussions with him.

Personal terms are not expected to be an issue, but Bayern Munich’s demand of €50m plus bonuses might complicate the situation.
