Mark Dodson, the man behind the voices of creatures in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Gremlins, has died at the age of 64. His daughter told TMZ that he passed away while he was in Evansville, Indiana, getting ready to attend Horror Con. He had checked into a hotel and suffered a “massive heart attack” while he was sleeping, she explained.

Dodson was famous for being the voice of Salacious Crumb, a small creature who was a buddy of Jabba the Hutt in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. This unique voice also landed him a role in Gremlins, where he voiced Mogwai, a character often imitated by kids on playgrounds.

His daughter, Ciara, shared that her father always made her proud.

The Evansville Horror Con, where Dodson was supposed to appear, shared a tribute on Facebook, saying they were deeply saddened by his sudden passing. They remembered him not only as a talented voice actor but also as a beloved member of the horror community.

Mark Dodson is survived by his daughter and several grandchildren.
