Manchester United is poised to bid farewell to manager Erik ten Hag following the FA Cup final showdown against arch-rivals Manchester City this Saturday, as reported by the Guardian.

Ten Hag, who took the reins at Old Trafford two years ago, is expected to depart after a challenging season marred by disappointing results and underwhelming performances.

The Red Devils’ Premier League campaign concluded on a dismal note, with the team finishing in eighth place, marking their lowest finish in the league since 1990. With their hopes for European qualification dwindling, Manchester United’s last chance for silverware rests on clinching victory against Premier League champions Manchester City at Wembley Stadium.

Sources close to the situation, cited by the Guardian, suggest that even triumph in the FA Cup final may not be sufficient to salvage Ten Hag’s tenure at the club.

The decision to part ways with the Dutch manager is significant, especially under the leadership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his associates, who assumed control of football operations following Ineos’ acquisition of a minority stake in the club.

Manchester United has wasted no time in exploring potential replacements for Ten Hag, with a slew of managerial candidates under consideration. Names in the mix include Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Kieran McKenna, Graham Potter, and Thomas Frank, as the club seeks to usher in a new era of leadership.

Despite Ten Hag’s prior success in clinching the Carabao Cup and securing a commendable third-place finish last season, the manager has encountered difficulties replicating those achievements this term. Moreover, several of his signings have failed to live up to expectations, exacerbating the club’s woes on the pitch.
