Ederson became a household name during the 2023/2024 UEFA Europa League when he helped Atalanta clinch the trophy for the first time in their history.
Ederson was extensively scouted last season, and United had initial discussions with his camp in March, making him aware of their interest.
Ederson has also attracted attention from top clubs like Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and Liverpool. He could be available for £38 million but with three years left on his contract, Atalanta might demand more.
