This Is Anfield reports that Newcastle approached Liverpool with the idea of acquiring Gordon to alleviate their financial obligations.

However, Liverpool, while acknowledging Anthony Gordon’s talent from his time at Everton, have refrained from making an offer.

The decision was influenced by Liverpool’s depth in attacking options, particularly on the left-hand side where they boast Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, and Cody Gakpo.

Additionally, Newcastle’s proposal to include promising defender Jarell Quansah in the deal was dismissed by Liverpool, who view Quansah as a key figure for their future defensive setup following a breakthrough season.

Anthony Gordon, who joined Newcastle in January 2023, had a standout campaign in 2023/2024, tallying 12 goals and 11 assists in 48 appearances.

Liverpool’s current squad composition and strategic priorities led them to decline the opportunity to bring him to Anfield.
