Slot, the current boss of Feyenoord, is set to take over from Jurgen Klopp, bringing an end to the German’s nearly ten-year reign at Anfield.

Joel Matip, who transferred to Liverpool from Schalke in 2016, is departing after making 201 appearances. He played a key role in several of the club’s triumphs, including their Premier League and Champions League victories.

Thiago Alcantara, who joined Liverpool from Bayern Munich in 2020, is also leaving. His time at the club was marred by injuries, limiting him to just one appearance last season. Despite his limited game time, Thiago is still in demand, with potential transfers to Saudi Arabia or another European club on the horizon.

Alongside Matip and Thiago, Liverpool is also saying goodbye to Adam Lewis, Melkamu Frauendorf, Mateusz Musialowski, Nathan Giblin, Francis Gyimah, Luke Hewitson, Niall Osborne, and Cody Pennington. These departures mark the start of Slot’s efforts to restructure the squad.

Liverpool also faces the challenge of keeping star player Mohamed Salah, whose contract expires in a year. However, according to SunSport, the club is contemplating signing Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins to strengthen their attack and possibly replace Darwin Nunez.
