Linda Balgord: Celebrated American Broadway Actress Dies Aged 64

American Broadway actress and singer Linda Balgord is best known for her roles as Norma Desmond in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Sunset Boulevard, Grizabella in the original Broadway run of Cats, and Queen Elizabeth I in The Pirate Queen. She also performed as a singer while living in the United States.

Balgord performed at Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin’s Fireside Theatre from 1982 to 1984, the year between her undergraduate degree and the start of her doctoral studies.

1990 saw her go to New York, where five months later she was cast in the main role of Aspects of Love, a two-year national tour. In Passion, she made her Broadway debut. Mar. 5, 2024, saw the death of 64-year-old Linda Balgord in Naples, Florida.

Stage star Linda Balgord died unexpectedly on March 5 at the age of 64 in Naples, Florida. News of her passing was confirmed to Playbill by her husband, stage manager Andrew Fenton.

A native of New Lisbon, Wisconsin, Ms. Balgord attended Viterbo University and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, performing throughout the Midwest before moving to New York City, where she soon found success in the commercial theatre world.
