Lim Kay Tong, who is also an actor and well-known television personality in Singapore.
Notably, Tong co-starred with Sean Penn in Shanghai Surprise (1986), Pierce Brosnan in Noble House (1988), Claire Danes in Brokedown Palace (1999), and played the lead in Growing Up (1996-2001) and Perth (2004).
He has been dubbed “Singapore’s finest actor,” “Singapore’s best-known actor,” and Singapore’s answer to actors Ian McKellen and Alec Guinness.
He is a co-founder and board member at TheatreWorks. In 1965, he played Singapore’s founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew in a film commemorating the country’s Golden Jubilee celebration.

Tong, who attended Anglo-Chinese School and a boarding school in England, was a national rugby player as a youth, playing wing-forward.
Tong was awarded the Singapore Armed Forces Colours for his rugby performances while serving National Service.
In 1975, he moved to the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, to complete his studies. He earned a Bachelor of Acts (Honours) in English and Drama from the University of Hull in 1978, where he studied alongside and was tutored by the late Anthony Minghella.
In 1980, he received a diploma in acting from London’s Webber-Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. In England, he played minor roles in the BBC’s Doctor Who and The Chinese Detective series.
He began his acting career on the stage, where he auditioned for a performance while bored during National Service.
Irene Lim Kay Han, who is his sister. Unlike Lim Kay Tong, little is known about Irene Lim Kay Han.
These siblings have been involved in the entertainment industry, with Lim Kay Tong and Lim Kay Siu sharing a bungalow in Singapore.
