Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, is a 1.36 km (0.84 mile) cable-stayed bridge in Lagos State which links the Phase 1 area of Lekki, with Ikoyi district of Lagos. There is a billboard strategically positioned at the Lekki Epe Expressway Toll Plaza which is a busy elitist district. Lekki Toll Gate came to global attention particularly on the 20th October, 2020 when there was an altercation between protesters who were seeking for an end to the much dreaded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigerian police service and the Nigerian Armed Forces which led to the death of many people.

Lekki Toll Gate Fee

There are two toll gates leading into Lekki: the Lekki-Ikoyi toll gate and the Admiralty toll gate which is on the Lekki Epe expressway. Motorists pay a fee for using any of the two gate to the Lagos Government. The fee for the Lekki-Ikoyi Toll Plaza is divided into N300 for saloon cars and N400 for Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs).

Lekki Toll Gate Billboard

The Lekki Toll Gate has a billboard which is used for commercial purposes. The LED billboard is strategically positioned at the Lekki Epe Expressway Toll Plaza which is a busy elitist district. This particular LED board is unique for its influential power and it is capable of steering vast audience towards companies products and services. It is also made efficient for advertisers desirous of vast and heterogeneous customers.

Lekki Toll Gate Massacre, Protest, And Death Toll

Nigerian mounted a spirited protest against the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) and called on the IGP and the president to dissolve it. They took the protest beyond the Twitter hashtag “ENDSARSNOW” to the street to demand for the dissolution of SARS. On the night of 20 October 2020, at about 6:50 p.m, officers of the Nigerian Army opened fire on peaceful End SARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos State. It was later revealed that at least 12 protesters were killed during the shooting. Some people have also been reported missing.

Lekki Toll Gate was developed by Messrs Lekki Concession Company Limited LCC. It is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement between Lagos State’s government and Messrs ikeja Concession Company Limited LCC.
