Over his illustrious career, Pepe earned 141 caps for Portugal, winning the UEFA Euro 2016. He spent a decade at Real Madrid, securing three LaLiga titles, three Champions League trophies, and two Club World Cups.
Pepe joined Real Madrid from Porto in 2007 and returned to Porto in 2019, where he won four Primeira Liga titles.
Cristiano Ronaldo, a former teammate at both Real Madrid and the Portuguese national team, praised Pepe’s impact.
“There are not enough words to express how much you mean to me, friend,” Ronaldo said. “We won everything there was to win on the field, but the greatest achievement is the friendship and respect I have for you. You are unique, my brother. Thank you for so much.”
