In a letter dated May 28, 2024, George Apraku Dentu claims that “The Legend of Aku Sika” is based on the novel “Aku Sika” written by his late father, L.D. Apraku. Dentu asserts that the play, scheduled to run on the 1st, 2nd, 8th, and 9th of June 2024, is a dramatization of his father’s work and has been prepared without proper authorization.
“This is a dramatization of the novel ‘Aku Sika’ written by the late L.D. Apraku,” the letter states. Dentu further alleges that the performing group has not made any contact with the rightful copyright owners of the novel.
However, organisers of the show say the performance of the play will still come off as announced.
