Larson, who had a challenging May with rain disrupting his racing schedule, turned his fortunes around at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

After an early, unscheduled pit stop, Larson charged from 12th place to take the lead over the final 32 laps.

He secured his win by prevailing in battles for the lead during the final two restarts and narrowly avoided a third overtime to clinch the victory under caution.

“This was definitely meant to be for us with the way the strategy worked out,” Larson said after celebrating by kissing the bricks at the historic track. “I just can’t believe it. It’s just surreal to win here.”

The win provided Larson a redemption after a tough Memorial Day weekend when weather conditions prevented him from completing the Coca-Cola 600.

On Sunday, Larson’s strategic racing and a bit of luck led to his victory. He capitalized on Brad Keselowski’s fuel issues, which allowed him to move into the lead. He held off Ryan Blaney, who finished third, to secure the win.

Jeff Gordon, a five-time Brickyard 400 winner and Hendrick Motorsports executive, praised Larson’s performance, saying, “You could tell he was driving for a purpose.”

With this win, Larson has now claimed three of NASCAR’s four crown jewel races, leaving only the Daytona 500. His fourth victory of the season has also placed him at the top of the Cup standings, ahead of teammate Chase Elliott.
