Speaking via a Facebook Live broadcast on Sunday, June 17, 2024, Mickey accused the gospel group of unauthorized interpolation in their recent hit song, Defe Defe, which has gained significant popularity.

Expressing concern over what he perceives as a pervasive issue in the music industry, Mickey lamented the unauthorized use of copyrighted material by gospel musicians under the guise of religious expression.

He emphasized the importance of respecting creators’ rights and ensuring proper compensation for their work.

Addressing the specific allegation against Team Eternity, Mickey warned of legal repercussions if the matter is not resolved amicably. He cited previous cases involving other artists and underscored his commitment to upholding the integrity of intellectual property rights.

“I’ve seen a group they call Team Eternity. You guys are joking with fire,” Mickey cautioned during the broadcast. “If you’re in doubt, go and speak to Stonebwoy and the Kumasi-based Sika Kankan singer – my son Kwaku Darlington. I am not the type to let you go scot-free. I’ll give you an international lawyer. I will have you respecting me.”

Despite his firm stance on protecting intellectual property, Mickey conveyed a willingness to settle the matter fairly with Team Eternity. He described his offer as “generously affordable” and urged the group to take the necessary steps to resolve the dispute.

Highlighting the broader implications for gospel musicians and creators in general, Mickey advocated for fair compensation and recognition for their contributions to the industry.

“Even Pastors take collections for the work of God. There are people making money from the Bible you see,” he remarked, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that gospel musicians receive their due financial rewards.

In conclusion, Mickey reiterated his commitment to fairness and respect for intellectual property rights while extending an olive branch to Team Eternity to resolve the issue amicably.
