Afolayan’s journey with ‘Aníkúlápó’ began with the 2022 Netflix original film, which garnered immense success within a short period. According to Netflix data, the film amassed an impressive 8,730,000 hours of streaming in under two weeks, solidifying its status as a cultural phenomenon.

The director’s vision for ‘Aníkúlápó’ extends beyond a standalone film, as he initially conceived it as a series to delve deeper into the intricate lives of its characters, Saro (played by Kunle Remi) and Arolake (portrayed by Bimbo Ademoye).
