Kofi Amoabeng is a Ghanaian businessman, and a former military officer of the Ghana Armed Forces. Kofi Amoabeng was popularly known as the co-founder of the UT Bank which collapsed in 2017 during Ghana’s banking crisis. Kofi Amoabeng was born on 22 February 1952 in Bososo in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Kofi Amoabeng was educated at the Penworth Preparatory School in Accra and had attended high school at St Peter’s Secondary School. He proceeded to Adisadel College in Cape Coast Ghana and graduated with flying colors. Kofi Amoabeng enrolled at the University of Ghana where he pursued his undergraduate degree and received a Bachelor of Science in Administration degree in 1975.
