Kevin Na, a Korean American professional golfer, and LIV Golf League member withdrew from the 87th Masters’ competition on Thursday due to illness.

Na had completed his first nine holes at Augusta National and had struggled throughout his round, making a double-bogey 6 on his first hole and scoring a 4-over 40. Na has a solid track record at the Masters, finishing in the top 15 in his last three appearances, and this is his 12th event.

Na’s withdrawal from the Masters follows his departure from the PGA Tour in June 2022 to join the Saudi-backed LIV Golf League.

Na finished 22nd in the LIV Orlando event last week. With Na’s withdrawal, only 17 LIV Golf members are competing in the Masters.

Greg Norman, the CEO of LIV Golf, who was not invited to the first major of the year, has promised that if a LIV player wins, all 18 members of the field would wait on the 18th green on Sunday afternoon to celebrate the victor.
