The 29-year-old artist, who uses they/them and she/her pronouns, has accused Young-White of abusive behavior, which prompted the court’s decision.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Kehlani filed for a restraining order after alleging that Young-White broke into her locked bedroom in June. The incident reportedly followed a confrontation about a notice Kehlani received indicating Young-White had filed for public assistance.

Young-White, who dated Kehlani from 2018 to 2019 and previously played guitar for her, filed a paternity petition in early August requesting full custody of their five-year-old daughter, Adeya.

In his petition, he claimed that Kehlani was involved with a sex cult and that members were given unsupervised time with Adeya. However, Young-White later stated on Instagram that these claims were filed without his knowledge by his attorney.
In her court filing, Kehlani described Young-White’s behavior as troubling, alleging that he was living in a state of disarray and consuming drugs, including marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms. She expressed concern over the impact of his alleged drug use on their daughter, noting that Adeya often returned smelling of marijuana smoke after visiting him.
Kehlani also reported that Young-White had made derogatory remarks about her and their daughter, expressing feelings of being ‘trapped’ by fatherhood. The singer expressed fears for Adeya’s well-being and noted a breakdown in communication with Young-White regarding their daughter.
The judge has issued a temporary restraining order, preventing Young-White from contacting Kehlani or coming within 100 yards of her or Adeya.
Kehlani was also granted temporary full custody of their daughter, with a hearing scheduled for September to reassess the custody arrangement and the ongoing situation.
