The ongoing issue of inadequate royalties for musicians in Ghana has once again come to the forefront, with the music duo Keche highlighting their frustrations.

Despite their numerous popular tracks, Keche has revealed that they have never received even GHC500 in royalties from Ghana’s music associations.
In a recent interview with Shobiztv, shared on Instagram, Keche compared their situation to that of top Ghanaian artists like Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, and Sarkodie, noting that even these prominent figures have not received substantial amounts in royalties.
They criticized the lack of progress and transparency in the royalty distribution system, questioning the effectiveness of meetings held by GHAMRO (Ghana Music Rights Organization) and MUSIGA (Musicians Union of Ghana).

Keche expressed their disappointment, stating, “No musician can claim to have received GHC20,000 as royalties. So, we do not know what is happening. People attend the meetings, and our managers also attend, but nothing changes after the discussions. It’s very disappointing.”
The duo’s comments reflect broader concerns within the Ghanaian music industry regarding the fair distribution of royalties and the operations of music organizations responsible for managing and distributing funds.
