Kara Louise Tointon is a British actress best known for her role as Dawn Swann in the BBC serial opera EastEnders.

She won the BBC competition series Strictly Come Dancing in 2010, and she played Maria in the ITV live version of The Sound of Music Live in 2015.

At the age of 11, Tointon worked as a paid professional child dancer in the Snow White pantomime at the Cliffs Pavilion. In 1994, she made her television debut as Sonia Fowler’s schoolmate in EastEnders.

Tointon joined 26 other celebrities at Metropolis Studios in 2018 to perform Rock With Rudolph, an original Christmas song written and produced by Grahame and Jack Corbyn.

Kara Tointon, 35, has given birth to a baby boy, welcoming him on her due date, last Thursday. It’s the former EastEnders star’s first child with her fiancé Marius Jensen.
