Real Madrid’s forward, Joselu Mato, has agreed to a two-year contract with Qatari club Al-Gharafa. The decision is almost final.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Joselu has also secured an option for an additional season. However, the clubs have not yet reached a final agreement.

Real Madrid has the right to buy Joselu for €1.5 million before the end of this month, which complicates the negotiations. Although Real Madrid could potentially purchase Joselu and sell him for a profit, they seem unlikely to take that path.

Meanwhile, Joselu’s current club, Espanyol, plans to use this situation to their advantage. Espanyol’s Chief Executive, Mao Ye, stated that if Real Madrid doesn’t exercise their purchase option by June 30, Al-Gharrafa must negotiate directly with Espanyol if they want Joselu.
In 2014, Joselu joined Hannover 96 and then moved to Stoke City in the Premier League. Newcastle United signed him in 2017, followed by a move to Alavés.
Joselu represented Spain at various youth levels. He made his senior national team debut in 2023. He was part of the squad that won the 2022–23 UEFA Nations League.
