Jon Kennedy Obituary – Jon Kennedy, 44, was one of Cradle of Filth’s early bassists and co-founder and vocalist of the symphonic black metal band Hecate Enthroned.

He was killed in a single-car crash, and other members of the black metal band paid tribute to him.

Frontman Dani Filth paid tribute to Kennedy, who spent a year with the band in 1994 before going on to other projects.

Dani Filth wrote:

Jon Kennedy / The Daily Mail

“He was a great bassist and singer who filled in for Cradle at a time of such magical import, mayhem, and mischief.”

“I distinctly remember having a wickedly wonderful week staying just outside Wrexham in Wales at Jon’s mum’s house in 1995.

“We watched Emperor synch up with the newly-released Disney Aladdin on VHS, heading out to undertake Black Metal shenanigans thereafter.”

“We were always pulling pranks and playfully winding each other up back in those days. He will be missed! Godspeed old friend.”

Kennedy only spent a short period with Cradle of Filth; he joined in 1994 and left the following year.

He participated in the original Dusk and Her Embrace recording, the group’s sophomore album, but this version was dropped because of a label disagreement.

In the end, a new lineup, featuring returning bassist Robin Graves, was used to record it (Robin Eaglestone). Fans got to hear Kennedy’s studio tracks for the first time when the original recording, Dusk and Her Embrace (The Original Sin), was published in 2016.

Kennedy was known for his contributions to the early sound of Cradle of Filth, and his legacy in the music industry will be remembered.
