Joel Osteen was born in Houston, Texas in the United States on March 5, 1963. He is the son of John Osteen, founder of Lakewood Church which Joes is the current head pastor, and Dolores Pilgrim.
Osteen graduated from Humble High School in the city of Humble, Texas, and proceeded to attend Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he studied radio and television communications.
In 1982, he returned to Houston, Where he founded Lakewood’s television program and produced his father’s televised sermons until his father died.
