Joe the Plumber children: How many kids did Joe the Plumber have? – Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher best known as “Joe the Plumber”, an American conservative activist and commentator was married to Katie Schanen and they had three children together: Samantha Jo, Henry Jo, and Sarah Jo. Joe the Plumber had an adult son, Joey, from a previous marriage. In all, Joe the Plumber had four children.

Interest in Joe the Plumber’s personal life has spiked following his death which occurred on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at the age of 49. According to reports, he died after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Despite Joe’s popularity, much is not known about his children as he kept them from the media.

Born on December 3, 1973, in Toledo, Ohio, Joe rose to fame during the 2008 US presidential campaign season after asking Barack Obama, then the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee, about his tax plan and whether he’d have to pay more as a small business owner.

He went on to become a prominent conservative activist, commentator, author, and motivational speaker.

Obama recognized that Joe the Plumber would have to pay more taxes if his income exceeded $250,000, but he also stated that he wanted to offer smaller firms a tax break in order to “spread the wealth around.”

When Republican opponent John McCain mentioned the event, it sparked debate, claiming that Obama’s words exposed him as having a socialist, wealth-distributing worldview.

Joe the Plumber later appeared at campaign rallies with McCain and his running mate, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, and became a hot subject at the final presidential debate, with “Joe the Plumber” portraying the typical American everyman.

In 2012, he ran on the Republican ticket to represent Ohio’s 9th congressional district in the House of Representatives, losing to Democratic incumbent Marcy Kaptur.

Joe the Plumber was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2022 and he died on August 27, 2023, aged 49.

He is survived by his wife Katie, their three young children – Samantha Jo, Henry, and Sarah Jo – and an adult son, Joey, from a previous marriage.
