Monty Brooks was the husband of country singer Jody Miller.

Monty Brooks was a Quarter horse trainer and breeder.

He was born on February 15, 1940, in Blanchard, Oklahoma to Monte Ray “Mont” and Jennie Mae (Pierson) Brooks. He had a sister, Maxine Sullivan and two brothers, Bill Brooks and Dalton Brooks.

Monty Brooks began training in 1975 and trained horses who earned more than $3.1 million.

Among the horses he trained was 1984 World’s Championship Classic (G1) winner Too Tidy Sis. He also trained graded stakes winner Jess Jones, and stakes winners Docs Dusty Okie and Mr Breakthru.

Brooks spent many years breeding and training Quarter Horses until his health began deteriorating. He was a member of AQHA.

Monty Brooks married Jody Miller on January 2, 1962, in Oklahoma City. The duo remained married until he died in 2014.

Monty Brooks and Jody Miller had a daughter named Robin Sullivan Brooks.

Monty Brooks died on February 25, 2014 at  age 74 in Norman, Oklahoma.

His wife Jody Miller also died on october 6, 2022, at age 80.
