Jeremy Tepper died on Friday, June 14, from a heart attack at a hospital in New York City, according to a social media post by his wife, singer-songwriter Laura Cantrell.

Born in 1963, Tepper was a native of New York who graduated with a degree in journalism from New York University (NYU). He was the frontman for the band World Famous Blue Jays, which garnered a dedicated following for its distinctive sound.

Throughout his illustrious career, Tepper made significant contributions to the music industry. He founded the independent country label Diesel Only Records, which specialized in country music and supported numerous artists. In addition to his role in the music label, Tepper held A&R and marketing positions for CDuctive and eMusic.com, where he played a crucial role in promoting and discovering new talents.

Tepper was also a respected journalist. He served as the managing editor of Vending Times and the editor of The Journal of Country Music. Furthermore, he was a country music critic for Tower Records’ Pulse! magazine, where his insightful reviews and articles influenced both fans and industry insiders alike.
