Jeremy Richard Streynsham Hunt is a British politician serving as Chancellor of the Exchequer (appointed 14 October 2022).

Prior to his appointment as the Chancellor of the Exchequer, he served in the Cabinet as;
- Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport from 2010 to 2012,
- Secretary of State for Health and Social Care from 2012 to 2018, and
- Foreign Secretary from 2018 to 2019.
Hunt was born on 1 November 1966 to parents Nicholas Hunt and Meriel Eve Givan in Lambeth Hospital, Kennington, and raised in Shere, Surrey, near the constituency he represents in Parliament.

Jeremy’s father Admiral Sir Nicholas John Streynsham Hunt GCB LVO DL was a senior Royal Navy officer and Commander-in-Chief Fleet from 1985 to 1987. He was born on 7 November 1930 and died 25 October 2013 at age 82.
Jeremy’s father was educated at the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth and after graduating, gained a commission in the Royal Navy and was promoted to lieutenant on 31 July 1952.

He served as Assistant Private Secretary to Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent from 1959 to 1962 and was promoted to lieutenant commander on 17 August 1960.
Jeremy’s father became executive officer of HMS Ark Royal in 1969 and was given command of the amphibious warfare ship HMS Intrepid in February 1974 before attending the Royal College of Defence Studies later that year.
He later became Director of Naval Plans at the Ministry of Defence in August 1976 and captain of the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth in October 1978.
He was promoted to vice admiral on 6 December 1983, on appointment as Flag Officer Scotland and Northern Ireland, and to admiral on 25 June 1985, on appointment as Commander-in-Chief Fleet and Allied Commander-in-Chief Channel and Eastern Atlantic.
He retired from the Navy on 26 July 1987.
- Meriel Eve Givan
Sir Nicholas John Streynsham Hunt’s wife and Jeremy Hunt’s mother Meriel Eve Given was the daughter of Major Henry C. Givan of the Isle of Wight, formerly of Rangoon.
Meriel Eve Given (Lady Hunt) was a nurse in the 1950s and 60s.
She passed away in 2022.
