In 2006, Jacob William Rees-Mogg became engaged to Helena Anne Beatrix Wentworth Fitzwilliam de Chair, a writer for a trade magazine and the only child of Somerset de Chair and his fourth wife, Lady Juliet Tadgell. Rees-Mogg and de Chair first met during their childhood through Rees-Mogg’s sister, who was a close friend of de Chair. Their romantic relationship began a year before their engagement, following Rees-Mogg’s formal request for her mother’s blessing.

The couple married in 2007 at Canterbury Cathedral in Kent. Their wedding ceremony was notable for its celebration of the post-Vatican II Mass in Latin, reflecting their shared traditionalist values.

Family and Home

In 2010, Rees-Mogg and his wife purchased Gournay Court, a Grade II* listed building in West Harptree. This historic house, which served as a Red Cross hospital during the First World War, holds personal significance for Rees-Mogg, as his great aunt was a volunteer nurse and the resident matron there during the war.

The couple resides at Gournay Court with their six children. Their family life is often described as steeped in traditional values, mirroring Rees-Mogg’s public persona and political ideology.
