In the world of Elden Ring, players may come across a gigantic, sleeping dragon just outside Fort Faroth, in the land of Caelid. This dragon, known as Greyoll, is an enormous creature that doesn’t even flinch if you attack it. Despite its peaceful demeanor, players may wonder if they should kill it, and if doing so has any significant impact on the game.

The sleeping dragon, Greyoll, is the mother of all dragons in the Elden Ring universe. She is an important figure in the history of the Lands Between, which was once ruled by dragons before the reign of Queen Marika and Lord Godfrey. Despite her historical significance, killing Greyoll does not seem to have any negative consequences in the game.

In fact, defeating the sleeping dragon rewards players with a substantial amount of Runes and five Dragon Hearts, which can be used to trade for new strong Elden Ring Incantations. When the dragon is dead, you’ll get the message that “A new draconic power is available at the Cathedral of Dragon Communion.” This suggests that killing the dragon is somewhat inevitable, especially for players aiming to collect all Legendary Incantations and Sorceries for an achievement.

However, it’s worth noting that while there’s no morality system in place in Elden Ring, the game’s story weaves a complex tale of strength, bravery, morality, and righteousness. Destroying such an important part of the Lands Between’s history could be seen as a morally questionable act, especially when there are other ways to farm Runes in the game.

In conclusion, while the sleeping dragon Greyoll in Elden Ring is a significant figure in the game’s lore, killing it does not seem to have any major consequences in the game. It might feel wrong to slay such a peaceful and historically significant creature, but from a gameplay perspective, it can be done without any negative impact. As always, the choice ultimately lies with the player.
