Ski-Doo personal snowmobiles are so well-known, especially in Canada, that in 2007, the CBC ranked them as the 17th greatest Canadian invention.

Joseph-Armand Bombardier unveiled his brand-new creation, the first Ski-Doo, in 1959.

The name was originally Ski-Dog, but a typo in a Bombardier brochure led to the name being altered to Ski-Doo.

When the error was discovered, Bombardier thought it was a fortunate development because it was easy to trademark for his car and it not only sounded good.
