Schofield played college basketball for the University of Tennessee, where he was known for his versatility, athleticism, and shooting ability. He played as a forward for the Tennessee Volunteers from 2015 to 2019.
Schofield declared for the NBA Draft in 2019 and was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 42nd overall pick. However, he was later traded to the Washington Wizards on draft night.
