Il Divo singer Carlos Marin has died after contracting COVID-19 only two weeks after being admitted to a hospital.

The Spanish classical singer, 53-years-old, fell gravely ill during a UK tour.

Spanish publication El Espanol reported that Marin was rushed to a Manchester hospital on December 8 and was diagnosed with COVID-19.

As his condition continued to deteriorate, Marin was put under induced coma at the hospital in Manchester.

On December 19, 2021, Marin was pronounced dead due to complications from contracting coronavirus. His death left many fans and fellow musicians devastated, including Il Divo’s creator, English TV personality Simon Cowell, who shared a healthy friendship with the singer.

Marin’s Il Divo group had said they were praying for Marin’s recovery after he was admitted to the hospital earlier this month, forcing them to a UK Christmas tour. Marin was also set to perform with his ex-wife, Franco-Spanish pop singer Geraldine Larrosa before his death.
