In an interview on Channel One TV’s “Upside Down” show, Quist disclosed that his involvement in “Efiewura” was voluntary throughout its 13-year run.
Despite being a familiar face on the series, he stated that he did not receive financial compensation like the professional actors involved.
Quist clarified that while actors considered professionals were paid, those like himself, who participated voluntarily and had personal vehicles, received only allowances for fuel.
“I joined ‘Efiewura’ after a fallout with Okraku Mantey, who had just produced Daasebre Dwamena. I offered to join voluntarily when I visited Okraku Mantey and met the director,” Quist explained during the interview.

He emphasized that his decision to participate was driven by his friendship with Koofori, who was also a radio personality at the time. Together, they leveraged their platforms at Radio Gold and Joy FM to boost the show’s popularity.
“For 13 years, from 2002 to 2014, I actively participated in ‘Efiewura’ without any payment. Only professionals were paid; the rest of us received allowances, particularly for fuel,” he stated.
“Efiewura,” which aired in the Akan language, explored the humorous dynamics between landlords and tenants and became one of Ghana’s longest-running television series since its inception in 2001.
