He was 71. Bob dropped out of school at the age of 15, worked a number of menial jobs, and then decided to pursue acting at the Unity Theater in 1969. Before reaching an international audience, he quickly progressed to roles in a number of British movies and TV shows.
He made appearances in the films Rainbow, Michael, The Secret Agent, Cousin Bette, and Twenty Four Seven in the second part of the 1990s. He received the Best Actor European Film Award for the later movie.
