Elon Musk will pay about $44 billion, or $54.20 a share, to take the social media company private.
This was according to an announcement from Twitter.

The agreement comes less than two weeks after Elon Musk first offered to buy Twitter; an offer which sent the company’s board and management into crisis mode as they scrambled to figure out whether the world’s richest man was serious and whether his offer fairly valued the company.

Earlier, on April 4, Elon Musk revealed that he had accumulated a 9% stake in Twitter, making him the company’s biggest individual shareholder.
If the deal goes through as expected, Elon Musk will have the power to reshape the company and platform as he pleases.
However, there are questions about how much of time Elon Musk will put into overseeing Twitter since he’s already CEO of both Tesla and SpaceX.
