The young King Henry was said to be handsome, clever and fun in contrast to his boring father. He had a beard which looks like gold and a complexion as delicate and far as a woman’s.

He was over six feet tall and loved jousting, hunting, composing music and throwing big, expensive parties. He also loved spending money.

Henry VIII was brought up a devout Catholic. Before he became king, he had in his possession a prayer scroll containing illuminations of the Trinity, the crucified Christ, the Instruments of the Passion and several martyred saints.
