On route to Windsor, the funeral cortege stopped overnight at Syon House. There are a couple of rumours as to what happened to the royal corpse overnight; one is that his coffin opened and the body was part mauled by dogs.

When Henry was two, he was appointed the Constable of Dover Castle by his father, as well as the Lord Warden of Cinque Ports. When he was three, Henry was appointed the Duke of York, and then later he was appointed both the Earl Marshal of England, as well as the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland.

As a child, Henry was extensively tutored in a variety of subjects. He was an adept student, and he became fluent in several languages including Latin, French, and Spanish.

Since Henry was the second son in the family, it was assumed that his elder brother (Arthur) would become the next King of England. Henry assumed that he would enter the Church.
