In 1966, Mills met director Roy Boulting while working on “The Family Way”. Their relationship developed, and they married in 1971. Together, they had a son, Crispian Mills, who became the lead singer of the band Kula Shaker.

The couple eventually divorced in 1977, but they had a successful professional partnership, with Mills appearing in several of Boulting’s films, including “Twisted Nerve” and “Mr. Forbush and the Penguins”.

After her marriage to Boulting, Mills had another significant relationship with actor Leigh Lawson. During their time together, she had a second son, Jason Lawson, born in July 1976. Mills and Lawson’s relationship ended in the early 1980s.

In the late 1990s, Mills began a relationship with actor and writer Firdous Bamji, who is 20 years younger than her. The couple has been together since 1997. Bamji, who has a background in acting and writing, has been a supportive partner to Mills.
