There are 9.1 driveless car crashes per million miles driven. The self-driving car accident rate is higher than the one of human-driven vehicles. That is to say, regular vehicles have a rate of 4.1 crashes per million miles.

Has anyone been killed by a self-driving car?
On November 20, 2018, the Uber crash in Tempe was believed to be the world’s first death by a self-driving vehicle.
The event resulted in the death of Elaine Hezerberg(a pedestrian) whereas the first person to get blamed was Rafaela Vasquez (the safety driver in the Uber car).
