Responding to inquiries from Derek Edem Kojo, a journalist with GhOne TV, Madalyn Bielfield, PR Manager for Guinness World Records, clarified that the current record holder for this title is Alan Fisher from Ireland, not Chef Smith.
Bielfield categorically stated, “No, this is not true at all. He does not hold the GWR title and that is not our certificate.”

The controversy arose after Chef Smith announced himself as the record holder during a press conference held at La Palm Hotel in Accra on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.
He proudly displayed a certificate claiming he achieved the longest cooking marathon with a time of 802 hours and 25 minutes, from February 1 to March 6, 2024, in Spintex, Accra.
In light of Guinness World Records’ statement, Chef Smith’s certificate has been declared invalid, raising questions about the authenticity of his claim and the certification process involved.
