The Argentine holding midfielder was once a key target for Barcelona during the summer transfer window. Under former manager Xavi Hernández, Barcelona had reached a verbal agreement with Rodríguez.
However, with Xavi’s unexpected departure and Hansi Flick’s appointment, the deal fell through, leaving Rodríguez to seek other opportunities.

West Ham’s offer emerged as the most appealing to the 30-year-old World Cup winner, outshining proposals from various European clubs.
Meanwhile, Barcelona continues their search for a holding midfielder, with primary targets Mikel Merino of Real Sociedad and Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich proving elusive.
Hansi Flick may need to consider more budget-friendly options or rely on promising talents from Barcelona’s youth academy, such as Marc Casadó and Marc Bernal, who have shown potential during preseason.
