The Grand Hotel in Torquay has been evacuated due to a fire in its spa.

The outbreak was reported at about 9:50 at a Spa in the basement of the hotel. Officials say the hotel has been evacuated due to the heavy flames and to allow the incident to be dealt with.
About six fire engines are on the scene of the outbreak, and no casualties have been reported.
Several fire crews and police are at the scene of the blaze, leading to a roadblock in the A3022 Rathmore Road.

The owner of the hotel, Keith Richardson said:
“I only heard 10 minutes ago that the fire had been put out. I’m glad it was in the basement sauna area.”
A staff of the hotel also claimed that the fire drill went well.
“It comes after the fire was reported in the basement of the sauna.
“About 30 members of staff gathered in the railway station car park. Around 30 staff and maintenance people working in the building at the time”, she said.
