Governor Alia Starts 50 Road Construction Projects, Scheduled for Completion in 12 Months

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has revealed plans for extensive road construction to enhance transportation and boost the economy.

Speaking at a recent APC meeting, he announced contracts for 50 roads, emphasizing their completion within 12 months to facilitate the movement of agricultural goods.

The governor highlighted ongoing projects, including underpasses in Makurdi and Gboko, nearing completion, alongside progress on 16 roads in Makurdi and Zone A, plus renovations to the State Secretariat and Assembly.

Addressing agricultural challenges, Alia pledged to minimize postharvest losses, recognizing farming as not just a lifestyle but a vital livelihood.

Security measures are also a priority, with plans for a 10,000-strong security outfit and the reinstatement of student scholarships.

Alia shared reconciliatory efforts with Sen. George Akume, emphasizing unity within the APC and dismissing rumors of division. Sen. Barnabas Gemade expressed elders’ support for the governor, focusing on guiding the younger generation.

Additionally, APC members lauded infrastructural progress and pledged fair elections for the upcoming council polls.

With these initiatives, Governor Alia demonstrates a commitment to fostering development, unity, and prosperity in Benue State, underlining the importance of collaborative efforts for sustained progress.
