Government Is Reportedly Mulling Over Renaming The Ameri Plant As The Kumasi 1 Thermal Plant – Edudzi Tameklo

Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, the Director of the Legal Directorate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has voiced apprehensions regarding what he views as the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration’s endeavor to rename the Ameri Power Plant to Kumasi 1 Power Plant.

In a Facebook post, Tameklo expressed that this move is a tactic to mislead the people of the Ashanti Region “This corrupt, incompetent, useless and wasteful government are determined to hoodwink voters in Ashanti region with the renaming and repackaging”.

As per his statement, the Ameri Power Plant, originally acquired during the tenure of former President John Dramani Mahama, was designed to tackle the nation’s electricity shortages, with a capacity to produce 25 megawatts of power.

Mr. Tameklo affirmed Akufo Addo and BAWUMIA opted to vilify John Mahama for this significant emergency power deployment “Akufo Addo and BAWUMIA decided to demonize John Mahama for this game changer emergency power deployment.”

He underscored Mr. Mahama’s involvement in procuring the power plant as part of initiatives to alleviate the country’s power crisis during his administration.
