Gospel musician Yaw Sarpong has addressed recent allegations made by his ex-wife, Adwoa Pinamang. Sarpong stated that their marriage ended 20 years ago when Pinamang abandoned him and their children.

In a radio interview, Pinamang claimed that Sarpong’s family has denied her access to care for her ailing ex-husband.
She also accused Tiwaa, a female vocalist, of taking Sarpong away with the help of his family.
Despite their long separation, Pinamang insists they are still married and not officially divorced, thus deserving to be treated as a legitimate wife.

Yaw Sarpong clarified that their marriage was never legally formalized, so a legal divorce was not necessary. He explained that he performed the traditional rites by presenting a Bible, soft drinks, and a ring.
Sarpong recounted how Pinamang abandoned him and their children and moved to Kumasi when he was seriously ill. He noted that he has had no communication with Pinamang over the past two decades, making her recent claims and efforts to reconnect surprising.
He believes her renewed interest might be influenced by the recent GH¢100,000 gift he received from Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia. Sarpong emphasized that he has moved on but will resolve all outstanding issues with his ex-wife amicably.
