Iconic actress Glynis Johns, renowned for her portrayal of Mrs. Winifred Banks in the 1964 cinematic masterpiece “Mary Poppins,” has passed away at the age of 100. Her manager, Mitch Clem, confirmed that she succumbed to natural causes on Thursday.

Approximately ten years before assuming the role of the suffragette mother in the beloved “Mary Poppins,” Johns graced the screen in another Disney production, “The Sword and the Rose.” Recognized as a Disney legend in 1998, she held the title of the oldest living legend until her recent demise. Moreover, she held the distinction of being the oldest living Oscar nominee for acting.

Her Oscar nomination was garnered for her performance in the 1960 film “The Sundowners.” Notably, she clinched a Tony Award for her role in “A Little Night Music,” where she delivered a memorable rendition of Stephen Sondheim’s “Send in the Clowns.”

Reflecting on her 100th birthday in an interview with ABC7’s George Pennacchio, Johns fondly reminisced about her career, stating, “I got applause for that. I loved doing it. I felt it.”
