In recent times, Ghana’s economy has been causing worry at home and abroad as many big companies say goodbye to the country.

Even though Ghana is rich in natural resources and has a stable political scene, it’s facing many money problems, making big players in different industries leave.
One big issue pushing companies out is the up-and-down value of the Ghanaian money, the cedi.
This makes it hard for companies to make money and makes things more expensive, especially for businesses that depend on bringing stuff in from other countries.
But money isn’t the only problem. Ghana has been struggling with electricity too. Power cuts, known locally as ‘Dumsor,’ happen a lot, and bills for electricity keep going up.

This makes it tough for companies to keep working smoothly and adds extra costs when they have to use generators.
Because of all these challenges, some well-known companies are shutting down their operations in Ghana.
Glovo, a popular delivery service, is stopping its work from May 10, 2024. Jumia, a big online shopping platform, already closed its food delivery service in December 2023.
And there are others, like Game, a big store chain, and Nivea, a skincare brand, both shutting down in 2022 and 2023. Even BET365, a major online betting company, is saying goodbye to Ghana.
