In a heartfelt statement, Willie Mays’ son, Michael Mays, expressed deep gratitude for the immense love and support fans have shown his father over the years. “My father has passed away peacefully and among loved ones,” Michael Mays said. “I want to thank you all from the bottom of my broken heart for the unwavering love you have shown him over the years. You have been his life’s blood.”
Mays was the epitome of a ‘five-tool’ player, a term used to describe players who excel in the five fundamental aspects of baseball: throwing, fielding, power-hitting, hitting for average, and base running. His prowess in these areas not only dazzled fans but also set a standard for future generations of players.
