He voiced worries about the possibility of Ghana missing out on sending its qualified athletes due to financial constraints.

Despite having talented athletes like Abeiku Jackson and a female swimmer who have earned their spots through universality, Ghana may struggle to finance their participation in the Olympics.

Mensah emphasized the critical need to raise funds swiftly, especially to support Ghanaian boxers participating in the qualifying tournament in Thailand in mid-May. He highlighted that without financial assistance, Ghana risks missing crucial qualification chances.

While acknowledging the Sports Ministry’s assurance to sponsor the boxers, Mensah stressed the importance of media advocacy to expedite the release of funds.

He urged the media to apply pressure similar to what was done for the national Queens’ team.

With the Paris 2024 Olympics approaching rapidly, time is running out to secure the necessary resources.

Mensah remains hopeful that with adequate funding, Ghana’s athletes can shine on the global stage, emphasizing the pivotal role of financial support in unlocking their potential.
