Ghana Tourism Authority Launches “Feast Ghana & Rep Your Region”

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), has unveiled an exciting new initiative aimed at celebrating Ghana’s rich heritage and cultural diversity. The launch of “Feast Ghana & Rep Your Region” took place on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the Accra Tourist Information Centre (ATIC), marking a significant milestone in the revitalization of the tourism and hospitality sector.

Under the auspices of the Ghana Cares Obatanpa project, “Feast Ghana” seeks to promote local foods and showcase the country’s diverse food traditions. The inaugural edition of the event, held under the theme “Flavours Of Ghana, Celebrating Ghana’s Cultural Diversity Through Food,” highlighted the vibrant array of flavours and dishes that define Ghanaian cuisine.

In collaboration with key stakeholders such as the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the Asanteman Queenmothers Association, and the Public Service Workers Union of the Trades Union Congress (PSWU of TUC), the Ghana Tourism Authority aims to elevate Ghana’s food scene and attract both domestic and international tourists.

Speaking at the launch event, officials from the GTA and MOTAC underscored the importance of promoting Ghana’s cultural heritage through food tourism. They highlighted the role of “Feast Ghana” in stimulating economic growth, creating employment opportunities, and fostering national pride.
